Scar Work
Summary
About this therapy
Scar work is a specialised therapy that mobilises the scar and the surrounding area. It is gentle and non-invasive, improving the look, feel and function of a scar and helps to reduce tightness in the scar and surrounding areas.
It can have a profound affect on local joints and the rest of the body. It is especially good for loosening adhesions and fibrosis in the scar which can cause pain and mobility issues.
Scar work is beneficial for all kinds of scars, large or small, young or old. (Scars must be at least 6 weeks old, with the skin fully closed and no signs of infection present.)
Some examples that Sheila has treated are: C-sections, keyhole surgery, joint replacements, mastectomy, Diep flap, Tram flap, open heart surgery, self harm, burns, appendectomy, amputations, hysterectomy, cancer excision/re-section.
If your scar is tight, itchy, puckered, numb, painful, uneven, sunken or raised, scar work can help you.
