‘DRAWING ROOM’, JERWOOD DRAWING PRIZE, JERWOOD SPACE 2011 JERWOOD VISUAL ARTS BLOG By Chris Fite-Wassilak “Fran Richardson’s Drawing Room (2011) is a more serene scene, a detailed charcoal drawing of an empty parlour with heavy, draped doorways out of the carpeted room. Inside the arched doorways is simply blank, as if a way out of the room is an escape from the drawing space itself. But hers perhaps more than any of the others emphasizes that what a large, detailed drawing gives you is that sense of space, a place to enter into that has its own sense of time.” http://blog.jerwoodvisualarts.org/?p=888 AESTHETICA By Paul Hardman “Another trait shared by several intense works is a feeling of the uncanny, such as a suggestive image of a form under a white blanket against a dark background by Liam Allan, and the solid Magritte-like volumes of curtain in Fran Richardson’s charcoal Drawing Room.” ‘BALLROOM’, LONG & RYLE STAND, ART LONDON 2011 FACONNER By Francesca Barrow “... I am excited by the linear nature of architecture – and rarely is it achieved so beautifully in a classical manner. There is such depth to this artwork as we peer into the nooks and crannies of the building. Yet, there is nothing secretive about this composition other than the wonder about a potential storyline. The artist has beautifully captured the grandeur of the space; hollowing the arches and making weighty the pillars. The stairs have that marble sheen to them and though the background is soft, it does not lose its strength. Indeed, possibly the most brilliant aspect of this piece is its composition as the shapes altogether harmonise perfectly and are portrayed with strong technique.” http://editorial.faconner.co.uk/Faconner_Editorial/Faconner_Interior_Design_Articles/Entries/2011/10/19_Art_London_2011.html INTERIOR CASTLE, LONG & RYLE GALLERY 2011 SPOONFED Editor’s Choice Selected by Tom Jeffreys “A new series of atmospheric architectural charcoal drawings by Fran Richardson at Long & Ryle this Spring. The works on show – almost Escher-esque but with the mathsy weirdness replaced by a sense of vague foreboding reminiscent of Turn of the Screw – are inspired by a 1579 book by the mystic St Teresa of Avila.” Share this: Post Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window) Nextdoor Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Share on Tumblr Share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Print (Opens in new window) Print Like this: Like Loading...

“ After the Christmas break of 2023, I was feeling really out of sorts emotionally and couldn’t work out what I needed to do to enable me to lift myself up. In January 2024 I had an opportunity to attend an evening event and I felt a really strong sense to attend that evening. Rose was one of the speakers, she talked about her life experience and her shamanic healing journey .... so much of what Rose said really resonated with me and I felt very strongly that I needed to experience this method of healin g. I booked my appointment the next day. Rose listened to my own life story with such compassion and empathy and I felt very safe sharing some very difficult things with her, the healing experience for me was so powerful and has made a huge difference to my life and I know will continue to do so. I am now emotionally stronger and have resilient and confident boundaries too. The amazing thing is that one session was all that I needed. I have recommended you to several people too..... as you really helped me. Thank you Rose .”
