It is good to know something about the instructor before you learn an art such as Tai Chi
In terms of credentials, within the organisation / style that I teach, I am a Level 7 (Master) Instructor and on a broader level am a member of the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain as an Advanced Instructor.
As of this date (September 2024) I have 10 groups and over 100 full time weekly students.
All well and good, but what about my own Tai Chi journey....

Why did I start?
I started learning Tai Chi Chuan in 2008 and was initially drawn to the ideas of a moving meditation, improved health as well as to the self-defence aspects. I count myself very lucky to have found an exceptional teacher and a very complete style of Tai Chi. I trained ever since with my teacher as well as with the head of this Tai Chi style (Dan Docherty) at his workshops, training camps and at his home until recently.
and then?
In time I was encouraged to compete in the British and European Open competitions amongst others where I have won a number of gold and silver medals for hand form, weapons forms as well as the more martial pushing hands contests. Whilst competitions are not the goal of Tai Chi, they do encourage the competitor to focus and develop their skills in ways which they might not otherwise have done.
Again with encouragement from my teachers, in 2016 I started to teach group classes and also one to one tuition.
It is difficult to express quite how much Tai Chi has helped me both physically and mentally and I now intend to share the benefits of this remarkable art with others.
